Officer Considers Legal Action Against McKinney

WASHINGTON -- The top police union official in the U.S. was in Washington today, urging the police officer who was involved in a run-in with Rep. Cynthia McKinney D-Ga. to take legal action against the congresswoman.

McKinney is accused of striking a Capitol Police officer, after the officer failed to recognize her and stopped her at a security checkpoint.

Channel 2 Action News learned exclusively that the president of the largest police union in the U.S. met with the unidentified officer this morning to talk over possible legal action.

“We're going to make sure the officer won't be harassed. We want the officer to be able talk to experts, who can look at his legal recourses, if he needed to," says Chuck Canterbury, national president of the Fraternal Order of Police.

The F.O.P. has more than 320,000 members.

I completely forgot about the cellular damage case back in 1999 that established that even causing the loss of more than a few hundred thousand cells can not only form the basis for a personal injury case but also, if caused with malice, can be prosecuted. After all, what's the real difference between somatic cells and frozen embryos? :sarcasm:

The bad black woman with the "hair" did something bad to the itty bitty cop. You know, I do have respect for cops (used to date one, and hung out with lots of them, most of whom were really decent people), but this is just getting freaking out of hand!

Police officers have too damn much discretion to push people around. I'm personally sick of feeling like an officer in my presence is more of a threat to me than the abscence of one would be.

Simply obeying the law is not good enough anymore to prevent citizens from being hassled, manhandled or shot. The officers who abuse their power do so with almost complete immunity from prosecution.

Now they get to hassle the few elected representatives who still speak for the people.

Black U.S. Capitol Police threaten second lawsuit

WASHINGTON (FinalCall.com) - When the Black U.S. Capitol Police filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against the U.S. Government in 2001, they expected to get justice. What they say they’ve gotten is retaliation and they’re threatening a second class action suit.

The officers took their case to Capitol Hill July 30 for a press conference alleging the Capitol Police department’s pattern of filing excessive and unfounded disciplinary charges against prominent members of the class action, as well as a pattern of harassment, including exclusion of class members from the U.S. Capitol Complex and a series of auto tampering, break-ins and vandalism of class members’ automobiles.

"We suspect that such conduct by the department smacks of retaliation against the class members and is designed to undermine the momentum of current settlement negotiations," class attorney Nathaniel D. Johnson told The Final Call.

We are incensed and embarrassed at having to deal with these same systemic issues of discrimination against African American officers in our own U.S. Capitol Police force, now in the 21st century.

Cynthia McKinney may have had a very good basis for the charges she made. She is part of the Black Caucus that wrote that letter.

There is a lot we didn't know and if that article is correct, there has been a real war going on within that Dept. and no doubt the Police Union would not be on the side of the black cops.

There are many charges of harrassment against the black cops listed in the article so it's no longer hard to believe that both Cynthia McKinney and in a more subtle way, Sheila Jackson Leigh, were telling the truth about how they have been treated.

If they do this, they better release the name of the cop ~ you can't file a suit and remain anonymous. All along I have wondered why this cop has not been identified. I have some theories about that now ~

and now that they have a pretext to go after her, they won't let go, just like they didn't let of Clinton's blow job. They will form a cyclonic windstorm around McKinney, keep up the pressure on her, swirling every kind of mud they can at her, and sucking it all away from the bushit boy, making a clear path for the bushit boy to get away with more war, more murder, more lies, more blood.
