Did I miss the fix for the blank pages/post problem? I am still

having problems more frequently today than for the last several days and it is driving me crazy!

I've been having it for WEEKS!! (months?) But NO ONE will give me an answer!

Well, one poster tried, but the suggestion didn't work. :(

It it driving me nuts. Some days I can't even get into a topic group at all! :(

Instead of going to the link on the single subject line only, "VIEW ALL" opens ALL the replies completely, below the single line hyperlinks. That did seem to fix at least some of the blank pages.

Mozilla.org looks like the place where you can contribute to the foundation.

I use explorer, and I have had no problems. :shrug: maybe just certain versions of IE?

I gave Elad the full string of numbers under "HELP" to identify which IE I was using.

(I'm in with Firefox right now... but now looking at the message with IE 6.0.2900 and a long string of other numbers!)

I was thinking that this was just some wierd glitch - that DU just hid some posts even though the post count said they were there!

Not enough time on this site to have figured my way around getting questions answered and/or fixing the problems.

Glad someone finally brought it up.

The work-around is to use another browser Firefox/Mozilla. It's free -- my husband and son-in-law are using it exclusively.

What I've been able to do is extablish that this is some kind of incompatibility between the DU pages and Internet Explorer ONLY when you are logged in as a member of DU.

If you LOG OUT, and pretend you are just visiting or lurking, you can see all the messages, even using IE. So, if you just want to READ messages at your workplace, you should have no problem.

However, you will not have all of the capabilities that come with LOGGING IN, such as search and posting privileges.

It;s odd.. I use IE, and I haven;t had any problems.. Gonna knock on my desk for luck :) I am a dunce at this IT stuff, and if a problem happens for me, I can;t figure out how to fix it :scared:

SoCalDem, I'm also a complete imbecile with computer problems. Luckily, I'm married to a software engineer who keeps both of our machines humming. However, this is not an area of his expertise. So I'm completely lost with the blank pages problem.

Thanks for adding me to the list. I hope it's fixed soon, I would like to be able to get into the Iowa forum more than once or twice a week.

A lot of people on other forums I visit (and me too actually) are having trouble suddenly with some websites and viewing their pages. I have 3 computers and the main one I'm using (new one) just started having trouble viewing email in Gmail. I can go to one of my other computers and have no problem viewing it. Microsoft has been getting an earful and I believe they're working on a fix. Anybody get any updates prior to having their trouble?

kind of pinpointed having this problem around early March when the DU activated the journals. That may be important, or it may be just happenstance.

I'll have to access our Microsoft timeline -- I think it's listed somewhere, but hubby is watching "The Sopranos". Thanks for the information.

This list of DU members have problems with Internet Explorer and Maxthon (MyIE2) browsers picking up "blank pages".

(No problems with Firefox and Netscape browsers reported as yet.)

Maxthon (MyIE2) is IE based. It is a tabbed browser with some extras.

journal itself, just the name at the top and the two "advertising" colums supplied by the DU. Is that correct?

but now I can't view any of the posts I am making here, and I also can't view the pages from the links posted in #32 in this thread. I could view them earlier.

EDIT: OK....now I can see everything again....this is wierd!

One of the work-arounds is to go to the Original Post (OP) and bring up the VIEW ALL function. That takes some time to load, but it seems a better option than trying to load replies off of the "BLUE LINE" subject lines.

Jeeze, this whole thing is driving me nutz...

I will have to switch over to Firefox, but I have to do my email in Internet Explorer. Firefox drops features out of Comcast mail and makes that mail system really unusable...

What could be causing this?

I don't know what to say. Can you check my other posts and keep a log of pages that don't work? Elad and I worked on this, but obviously, some of you are still having problems.

Please just keep a simple record of any more "blank pages" you come across.

Send them to me and I'll continue to test them here. I can work with Elad or he may wish to contact you directly.

Highlight the address line (URL) with a CONTROL-A, then CONTROL-C to copy, and CONTROL-V to paste into a word processing document.

I thought we had it all fixed but apparently others are still finding some problems.

I checked Radio Lady's "problem pages" up thread and I had probs with two and not with the other two. Of course, sometimes I can get a page/thread that I couldn't get before. And then sometimes I can get a page and later NOT be able to get it. aaaaagggggghhhh...

The URL is the same as the 'Address'. It should appear in the top line of your browser on every page. It begins with:

http:// etc. etc.

For example, this is the address of this post:

To "capture" the address, bring your cursor up to the small Address window at the top of your page and hit CONTROL-A (highlights the entire line, if it is not already highlighted).

Copy that line to your clipboard (you can't see it, but you should have it) by hitting CONTROL-C.

Open a word processor (WordPad, MS Word or what have you) and hit CONTROL-V. You should see the address line there.

Give the document a name, such as "DU Pages Will Not Open.doc"

Keep this in your word processing documents over the weekend. We'll just keep communicating this to the folks at DU and perhaps they can fix it in the next few days. I'm going to take a bit of a break, but will try to tackle this again next week.
