70 Dogs in Odessa Losing Guardian to Cancer. All Need Homes!
I hope it is ok to post this here.

*****************************************************************************************************

We are sad to report that there are 70 dogs at a sanctuary in Odessa, Texas who need to be placed in loving homes. They are currently at a sanctuary run by a wonderful man who is in the last stages of prostate cancer. If these dogs are not rescued soon, he will be unable to care for them and a local humane society will put them down.

Most of the dogs are mid- to large-sized. All the dogs are friendly to dogs and humans; they are starved for human affection. There are no aggressive dogs. The dogs have been neutered and spayed, vaccinated, tested for heartworm and tick fever, treated for ticks and fleas, treated for tapeworms and some have undergone extensive dental work. Most of these dogs have been in the sanctuary for 1 to 5 years. They have not lived in homes, so they will require some socialization.

If you or anyone you know has the time, patience and the room in your heart and home to provide for one or more of these animals, please contact Max Green at Max@idausa.org or leave a message at 415-388-9641, ext. 222 and someone will get back to you right away.

Thank you for all that you do to help animals.

Sincerely,

In Defense of Animals

30. Gosh, the local woman who does animal rescue has a whole network
country wide of people who help relocate pets.

Gee, I hope someone in Texas who is familiar with this network reads this thread!

11. Blessings on him
I truly hope the dogs are able to find loving homes. My husband and I got a little treasure from mini-Schnauzer rescue a couple of months ago, and it's been such a joy to watch him blossom from an insecure little guy into the undisputed king of our home.

People who do rescue work don't receive enough help, or thanks. These dogs can be the best ever, all they need is a chance, and some patience and love.

If they all can't find homes maybe Best Friends in Kanab, Utah will help. They are an awesome bunch! I wish I could take one, but I already have 4.

is a place in Riverside, near LA, which rescues large dogs and tried to find homes for them. it sounds very much like the sanctuary they are in now.

25. Oh, this is wonderful. Thanks for adding. There is a dog on there with
my mother's name, Ramona, who passed away a little over a year ago. That was hard to see because my mother was a huge animal lover (probably one of the reasons I am). I so wish I could take her or any of them, but I live in a rental with 4 dogs (3 are Chihuahua's - all rescues) and 2 cats and I can't take any more.

I have a feeling though that enough good people are involved and these fur babies are going to find good homes!

32. Sign up for the group and then post. Make sure to sign up in groups that
are around your area for the best coverage.

Also shelters in your area may be willing to do courtesy posts in PetFinder.
