Christian legal theorist: Privacy laws and transparent govt are PERVERSE!
via Kos:

http://www.concurringopinions.com/archives/2006/04/william_stuntzs.html

From the wack-job:

"In an age of terrorism, privacy rules are not simply unaffordable. They are perverse."

"Privacy and transparency are the diseases. We need to find a vaccine, and soon."

From the critical blogger:

" argues that privacy and transparency (open government) "seem like quintessentially liberal ideas," although historically they had long been conservative ideas."

"Stuntz's logic seems to be that we should let the government invade our privacy to a significant degree, because if we don't, the government will resort to even worse things."

What kind of parents make such awful children? Sigh.

It's called The Constitution of the United States of America.

Read it. Learn it. Live it.

4. They're in the wrong country. Tell them it is time to move along. The
Russians seem to be in a backward spiral. They could probably get in there.

5. Worst of all worlds.
If I am transparent to the government, AT LEAST it should be transparent to me. It its private from me, AT LEAST I should be private from it. But what he descrines is the worst world ever. IT translates in total power for a very few people to control the masses while they hide behind veils.

6. A theocracy just won't work with transparency and privacy
You have to realize, the laws they make are for you, not them. If there's transparency you'll realize that, like the child-molesting priests and such (no offense meant to Catholics) they abide by no law. Additionally, if you have privacy what good is a theocracy. They have to know what you're doing to stone you for it ;)

7. Good point. It's likely that that's the nub of the issue....
... War is just a convenient pretext to get a theocrat-lover's best wet-dream-government instituted.

8. No transparency for government
and absolute transparency for private citizens. If you have curtains on your windows, it makes baby Jeebus cry.
