I'm scared and very very very angry.

The administration scares the crap out of me, wondering what they will pull next, how this may directly affect me and mine as well as the greater world. Bird flu? A concern but not a worry. Disaster preparedness? I expect nothing from the administration, and will probably get about that. Iran and nuclear weapons, whether small or large, "tactical" or KBOOOOM! scares the crap out of me. I grew up during the cold war, with the threat of nuclear war hanging over my head because of some stupid malfunctioning something ("oh dear, I thought we were getting attacked. oops") DrStrangelove sort of stuff and I fear so much what these madmen (bush etc) are capable of doing.

I am very very very angry at what they have done so far and the fact that now I have to be afraid again. I must watch myself with my family, to not let that fear influence how I interact with them, and I must watch myself to be more patient than usual with everyone else because many of them are equally scared and acting out their fears. I am seeing these behaviors here on DU the last couple days more and more and am trying to not reply snarkily, to let stuff go and move on and hope that things settle down soon.

I also hope Mr.bush and his evil minions suffer some sort of repercussion for what they have brought to the world.

They have caused so much anti-us feelings in the world, nuking Iran would make it much worse, make so many more people for so many generations hate us. Only thing I can take heart in is the, I hate to say it, Hitler and Germany comparison. Germany is not universally hated, neither is Poland, or other countries for having given into that tyrant. However, Europe does not seem to hold grudges as much or long and, I don't know. Am hoping that it will not all come home to roost, but still worry it will.

They can't nuke anybody without the help of the Air Force, and if the military doesn't cooperate nothing will happen. Rummy is a sort of Dr. Strangelove, but I don't know if we have any equivalent of General Jack D. Ripper any more. These days the real wack jobs are the civilians.

can you believe. the pain feels so real. but reality, when sittin in fear, nothing is happening. the only thing happening is your brain is thinking what could happen. or thinking in the past of what had happened. but in the now, there is no fear.

one way to look at it. but how i see it. i sit in my home, with my husband that is just grand and brings me such lite and laughter. i have two boys i enjoy so.... i am taken care of. roof over head, food on table. conveniences..... spring, the lawn is getting green. gardens cleaned out, flowers to plant. in the reality..... i can look around, and why why would i feel pain in this. what happpens, we will deal with, whatever comes. but i am not going ot be unappreciative of the gifts i have now, to sit in fear of what might happen

Unfortunately, before that happens they usually take many with them. Look what happened to Rome, The Spanish Empire, the British Empire, Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. We may go down with them as a nation as well. I hope not. I hope this is a lesson to us that we need to change our laws to make this kind of corruption much harder to achieve and to make our elected leaders responsible and accountable for their actions.

I am sure of that. It is small consolation, I know, but the thought comforts me when I get angry at him.

I think your reactions and tempered stance sound very responsible, both personally and in social or civic terms. Even though it gets really tough, some forbearance is a better course---haven't we had to develop some of THAT for the last hmm eight years!---and drawing together with relations and friends Despite our difficulties with politics can reinforce that deeper bond. I listened to Monica Crowley talk about Iran tonight. She was saying their leader is a madman who would gladly attack us rather than waiting for us to attack them. The irony of her stupid statement made me smile.

One of the hardest things about this era for me, is choking back the rage and knowing that about a quarter of this country refuses to believe bushco has done anything wrong, or when confronted with absolute evidence will try to defend bushco. I sit around gnashing my teeth knowing that these people will never be punished. Not really punished. I keep thinking about the Iraqis who were raped and tortured because rumsfeld deliberately hired independent contractors who couldn't be prosecuted for anything they did and turned them loose on the people we were "liberating". And there will be no justice.

Just as Hathorn changed his family name spelling over the Salem Witch Trial fiasco, so will Bush/Cheney descendants feel the shame.

I wonder sometimes if younger people fathom the principle changes our democracy has suffered since the 60s.
It was far from perfect then, but there seemed to be checks and balances that always evened things out, and we grew and became more prosperous by the year.

Then I realize that everyone remembers the 90s, and no matter how much some hated Clinton, they know things are worse now.

We have to convince the "Barstool Republicans" to stop making excuses and blame the party that's responsible for our woes.

I still get mad, but yesterday, for the first time in a while, I wanted to throw somethng at the tv when I heard a news report about Rumsfeld. The anger about everything he has done, and Bush backing him up, just made my blood boil again. Plus, I live very close to Iran, so on top of being disgusted by the thought of attacking another nation, I have the proximity to worry about.

It's time to do something - I am beginning to like the idea proposed on DU of not buying gas from Exxon-Mobil. We need someting simple that sends multiple messages. PNACers do what they do on behalf of the corporations - such as Exxon-Mobil.

I grew up expecting a nuclear thing between USA and USSR probably by accident, with a computer glitch, or other human glitch. Then I thought that it would be some small country doing something stupid with their nuke (hey, we have it, we don't like you, let's use it). While I have still thought that the USA might nuke somewhere by error, I did not think they would ever do it again on purpose. It makes me sick and will not help anything in the long run.

The neocon thinktanks, theocrats and repubs have been carefully laying the groundwork for the current regime for decades. Once they attained power it amazed me just how FAST the downward spiral actually was. We no longer have checks and balances. We no longer have an independent press. We no longer have an electoral system we can truly trust. If we survive the next 2 years we should all learn how delicate a democracy is and how quickly it can deteriorate and be plunged into the mud by a handful of evil but very organized ideologues.

What I felt was the agitation of strong emotions without the ability to act on them. I wanted change but was deterred from doing anything because of the consequences (such as punishement or penalty) -- and that was for something as small as speaking out. Since * stole this country, I feel like I'm in middle school again, like it's a matter of time before I get into trouble for doing nothing. So right now, I feel angry too, but not fearful, just angry and frustrated.
