CNN following the Bush talking point: "We're addicted to oil."
I'm not going to say we don't require oil. We do. But now CNN is using Bush's talking point for one of their specials on the subject. Folks, it's your fault the oil prices are high. You're addicted. Seek help. NOW. :puke:

Nobody wants to talk about that though.... 7 billion in profits in one quarter is obscene....

2. That's like saying fat people are addicted to food
We ~need~ oil, but we've been giving absolutely zero guidance from various industries on how to use it efficiently.

11. No, we NEED air, water, and food
We could live without oil. It's just that we don't want to.

12. It's part of our lives
Plastics, silicon, rubber tires.

Unless you want to walk everywhere you, and send letters by horseback, you'll be using oil.

13. Like I said
we don't need it. We enjoy the toys and luxury it gives us, but we don't need it. We want it.

3. The first step is admitting you have a problem.
Bush, Rove, Rice, Delay, and Cheney are all addicted. We need an intervention.

4. Blame the victim. SICK OF IT.
The American people are addicted to oil.

The American people won't do the jobs undocomented workers will do.

The American people don't have the skills necessary to fill outsourced jobs.

The American people should take care of their own healthcare and retirement.

7. I am not addicted to oil. I wish I never had to use any product...
made from oil, but I have no choice right now. I drive a small, energy efficient car, keep the thermostat down and do whatever I can to conserve. Give me an alternative to oil products and I will be the first in line.

presidency that he got right. We ARE addicted to oil. Do you disagree with that? If the demand wasn't so high the prices would not be so high. Haven't you noticed the SUVs? How about the fact that there are NO sidewalks in most communities? We drive everywhere.

BTW , I'm using 'we' as the collective we (our nation). Not us here at DU.

10. CNN ignored Kerry's warnings on oil throughout 2004 and they amplify BUSH?
Yeah - I guess Bush really proved to CNN he's concerned about too much oil consumption and its effect on the environment and our Mideast policies.

CNN - one of their largest shareholders is House of Saud....longtime partners with House of Bush.

15. Well, then why doesn't the government do something about it... oh, wait.
If this is such a danger isn't the government supposed to do something to protect us from it? They should have been promoting alternate energy decades ago. Why are they blaming us? Unless we are energy executives there is not much we can do about it besides take the bus, which also runs on oil. You are right, it's just a transparent diversion from how the oil execs want to make more profit.
