Has anyone heard from "Stormin' Norman" Schwarzkopf?

Since Schwarzkopf was the commander of the US Central Command who led the coalition forces that defeated Iraq in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, he should have plenty to say about the disaster Bush has created in Iraq today.

Sometimes it does take a hero, to speak out.

I worked in this field briefly. Grizzlies are a threatened species and why the govt keeps trying to take them off the endangered list, I believe you can only hunt them in Alaska. I haven't been around bear people in years, so correct me if I'm wrong.

The grizzly nuts I knew were more libertarian than liberal...

I've shot animals before. I have two deer heads in my parlor.

Don't think what dead eye Dick"head" Cheney does is hunting. It's not. I grew up in gun country NY. I'm proud of my hunting and fishing background.

I live in Arizona now. We're hunters as well. If he's doing it for hunters, fine. There are alot of things that go into hunting permits.

Here in AZ, you're entitled to 1 elk, or one bear per season, depending on the permit.

I'd rather he work for a sportsman group than some damn oil company!

They saunter up to my folks' home in AZ to look for feed. They are so majestic, and move so slowly. "Elsie" has practically become a family pet.

Why not shoot cans off fences instead? They're a more difficult target and would better test one's marksmanship.

Because I use the fur for rugs, mount the head and eat the meat.

Same reason I shot White tail deer when I lived in the Catskill Mountains of NY and the same reason I went Deep Sea fishing for Tuna, Bluefish, Blackfish and Striped Bass.

I like the taste.

I shoot wild turkey too because I like the taste of wild turkey over the sterioded up store turkey. Hell, I get my beef from a private beef farm and not the store.

I like to hunt, fish, hike, camp and yes, I love red meat.

I don't force it down people's throats, but my fellow progressives feel the need to force veganism down mine while I'm enjoying a kosher hamburger.

I listen carefully, continue to eat, then thank them for their time and walk away.

And, no, you never shot a pregnant elk, an elk with a fawn or a yearling. IMHO, the fines for that SHOULD be much higher!

But you can fire some warning shots over the javalinas' ears if you'd like. They can be rather nasty.

and I have never shot a pregnant animal. You can tell if one is pregnant or not.

It's part of your culture. Why stop it, even with Safeway down the street, although, granted, Safeway probably nukes its food.

Do you grow your own veggies as well? Just curious.

Now, I just grow my own fruit, or I go to Trader Joe's for organic.

That's a safe place to be when one wants to avoid offending a book-purchasing public.

Danny Thomas worked with children, as does Jerry Lewis.

To the best of my recollection, Danny Thomas wasn't political and did great things.

Not everyone who is famous is a Harry Chapin or a John Lennon.

Sometimes, social causes are just as important as political ones.

Norman is and has. It's only natural, now that other generals involved in war planning and execution have spoken up, to wonder, hey, what's Norm's take on all this? After all, he led Desert Storm I.

He can't be bothered with political chitchat.

Stormin Norman is just another God damn hippie pushing the 'bear agenda'

Now we know how he feels about polar bears, walrusses and global warming. It would also be helpful if he let the public know how he felt about "The Long War" and tens of thousands dead, dying, imprisoned without due process and otherwise targeted with each passing day for the last three years.

Let him do what he feels he needs to do. If protecting Grizzly Bears is his thing, let him run with it.

But, hey, Norman is retired, so he doesn't want to be bothered with such trifling matters. I completely understand.

Again, why does everyone need to take up political issues. Sometimes, social issues are just as important. I'm glad he's working with handicapped kids in Florida.

he worked for one of the MSM's...(CNN, MSNBC)--can't remember which one. He REFUSED to carry the water for Little Lord Pissypants and he quit his gig. That speaks VOLUMES, IMO.

Norman's silence is deafening.

Evidence: Bush gave Jim Nicholson the position of Sec. of Veterans' Affairs, and Nicholson hasn't done squat to help the vets. In fact, he has turned money down that the democratic party was begging him to accept in anticipation of returning wounded vets from Iraq/Afghanistan.

Nicholson is another Brownie/Chertoff. Bush sure knows how to pick 'em!

He thinks U.N. inspections are still the proper course to follow. He's worried about the cockiness of the U.S. war plan, and even more by the potential human and financial costs of occupying Iraq.

In fact, the hero of the last Gulf War sounds surprisingly like the man on the street when he discusses his ambivalence about the Bush administration's hawkish stance on ousting Saddam Hussein. He worries about the Iraqi leader, but would like to see some persuasive evidence of Iraq's alleged weapons programs

He lives in the Tampa area and does a lot of work on behalf of sick and handicapped kids.
It's probably good that he retired when he did. I don't think his personality would mesh real well with the Boosh badministration.

Received latest edition of 'US News & WR' last night. In an article regarding Iraq, it said there were about 2.5 million US soldiers in the first Persian Gulf War (which lasted all of a month or so), versus only 550,000 in Iraq during the last 3 years. Wonder what Norman would say about that.

But, I know he's busy, with the bears and such.
