Certainly, he is not intellectually gifted. But let's be fair, most of us aren't, either. His biggest problem seems to be that he has never been challenged (intellectually or otherwise), nor has he ever accomplished anything on his own. Without help from family, or family friends.

He has almost no understanding of other's problems or viewpoints - he's never had any problems that couldn't be fixed by a phone call or bribe from Dad (or one of Dad's friends), and any viewpoints he has been exposed to have been limited to the ones of his family, etc. It seems that he just doesn't understand that there *are* other viewpoints, some of which don't agree with his.

Bottom line: he isn't stupid so much as soullessly self-centered.

You have to stick "evil" in with "idiot"--even though the effects of evil and the effects of stupidity are often the same. You see, nobody could be that perfectly evil nor that perfectly stupid--it has to be a synergy!

He doesn't pay attention to what he doesn't care about.
But, he can convince people of a lot of things.
I could see through it, because I am really sensitive to the smirk and I have to admit to my ideological predisposition that influences me.
He convinced people in congress, who I really think should have known better, to give him the benefit of the doubt, somehow.
Someone who can make people trust them despite regularly being negligent on knowing facts has some kind of awareness and ability that is pretty rare.
And frankly, the scary part is that the unwillingness to learn things has worked to his advantage. The dumber people think he is the more they enable him.

who was able to pass as a journalist? She started screaming at Hu Jintao when he was making his speech. WH security looked a bit confused at the blunder. The whole thing was hilarious.

Of course the repressive chinese government cut off the live feed when the woman started screaming. A preview of things to come maybe?
