Iran Bombs Kurdish Camp in Iraq!!!
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 05:27 AM by AGENDA21
ARBIL, Iraq (Reuters) - Iranian forces shelled Iranian Kurdish rebel positions inside mountainous northern Iraq early on Friday to repel an attack, an Iraqi Kurdish official said.

"This morning Iranian Kurdish fighters infiltrated the border into the Iranian side and the Iranian army bombed the area and repelled them. The shelling hit Iraqi land at Sidakan," said Saadi Pira, an official in Iraq's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) party.

Snip..

Ankara, which has up to 250,000 troops in southeastern Turkey, has sent an extra 40,000 soldiers to the area to prepare for an expected rise in PKK incursions from northern Iraq, a senior Turkish military official said on Thursday.

Turkey's Daily Aksam said on Friday 50,000 troops were massed at the borders with Iran and Iraq and that the army planned to extend its fight against PKK beyond Turkey's border.

6. Blowback: destabilizing Turkey, breaking up Iraq & straining NATO
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 05:59 AM by leveymg
Don't forget that Turkey and Iraq, not Iran, have been the primary centers of Kurdish separatism. You can't fuel Kurdish nationalists in Iran without also increasing the forces pulling both Iraq and Turkey apart, and Turkey is a member of NATO.

7. So Iran meant to bomb Iranian Kurds infiltrating Iran & hit Iraqi land by
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 07:25 AM by WePurrsevere
mistake? Iranians infiltrating Iran being shelled by Iran who hit Iraq threw me a bit. ::sigh:: I really need to get a Middle East primer so I can better understand the history, who & why etc of the area.

All I do know (well think I "know" but what school taught & what reality was/is do not always jive) is that the Middle East has been a place of massive turmoil for centuries and just when it seems that they're finally sort of sorting things out enough to maybe have a chance at peace, George (more balls then brains) Bush & his OIL/$ cabal, go in and play "poke the tiger" under FALSE pretenses :grr:

... Oh and WHERE exactly is Osama Bin Laden again? :nuke:

(edited to add a space for more clarity... I hope. :hangover: )

10. Iran Launches Major Operation Against PKK
Iranian security forces killed 10 members of Pejak, which is affiliated with the PKK (Kurdish Workers’ Party) terror organization, in a major anti-terror operation.

According to the reports, Iranian forces are conducting large scale operations near the Turkish and Iraqi borders after the PKK terrorists wintering in northern Iraq began to infiltrate the border with Turkey and Iran.

Some 10,000 Iranian forces are taking part in the operation. 10 PKK terrorists were killed while six Iranian security forces lost their lives in the clashes. Several PKK terrorists were injured in the clashes.

The Iranian operation coincides with major Turkish anti-terror operations near the Iraqi border. Turkish security forces, backed by helicopters, are carrying out operations against PKK terrorists in the region near Iraqi border. More than 35 PKK terrorists have been killed recently in the region.
