Your Voice: 'What I would say to President Bush ...'
Earlier this week we asked readers to tell us what they would say to President Bush if they could have just 10 seconds with him during his visit to the valley. Here are their answers:

I'm a 12-year-old kid and it has been my dream to meet you. I've been wanting to meet you after you united our nation after Sept. 11, 2001. You are doing a great job being our commander-in-chief in our two wars, and I've collected more than 200 items of you and your 2004 run for the White House. Good luck for the next two years.

Frankie Alvarez,
Indio

Thank God that we finally have a president who stands against those who have murdered Americans worldwide for 20-plus years and is giving opportunity to the rest of the world to self-govern through democracy. With the best of advice, stay the course and thanks.

Maynard J. Amelon,
Palm Desert

I have always believed in the sound collective judgment of the American people. Regretfully, no more. We witnessed your felonious first term - and re-elected you! You are a disgrace to the office, and a danger to the world. The consequent shame and sorrow is a burden we must all bear.

Bert Anderson,
Cathedral City

1. I was proud of you...
Thank you for your determination and courage in taking the battle to our enemies, terrorists who have and would again kill innocent Americans. We support you totally and know you will stay strong. God bless you and your family.

Les and Toni Burke,
Palm Desert

President Bush, I was proud of you when I voted for you, and I am still proud of you. You are in my prayers every day. Come to the desert more - you are loved here.
Gwen Carpenter,
Palm Desert

Please resign. Please stop spreading your version of global freedom. Please note that only 3 in 10 people approve of your job performance. Please allow people to disagree with you. Please consider the harm your policies cause our environment. Please stop the war. Please retire immediately. Please.

Mark Chitjian,
Palm Springs

Please list for me the ways that you personally save our planet in your daily living - such as recycling of goods, conserving electricity and water, using public transportation, using biodegradable home products, informing yourself about scientific research concerning the Earth and its future for our heirs.

Beth Christiansen,
Palm Springs

2. Mr pResident, as a federal employee would you mind taking a...
lie detector test, like the test that the lady at the CIA was made to take? You are a federal employee too and also suspected of leaking classified CIA information, so are you above the law, or not? Do you think that if the lady at the CIA is fired, or jailed, that those same penalties ought to apply to you, if you fail the polygraph test?

7. Fascinating to see how the other side thinks boiled down into 3 sentences.
"We thank God for blessing you with wisdom, spiritual guidance, good health and the perseverance for upholding the Constitution of the United States so that all people can realize true freedom. We're grateful for your leadership. We, the un-polled majority, support you."

If that isn't a study in denial, I don't know what is. "All people can realize true freedom"? At this point, in the face of reality, I'm amazed people can still dredge up nuggets like that.

"Thank you for your determination and courage in taking the battle to our enemies, terrorists who have and would again kill innocent Americans. We support you totally and know you will stay strong. God bless you and your family."

Republicans are so fearful. It makes me sad. They're just so blinded by terror that they support policies that only make the world worse. It's like the man who hears a noise in the night, grabs a gun, spins around, and fires into the dark, only to find he's shot his kid.

Wish I knew how to reach these people!

8. Dear Mr Bush
I grew up believing I was in the best country in the world. I grew up knowing the Russians were bad, they spied on their people, tortured people, and there was no freedom of speech. I grew up knowing I could be anything I wanted to be even though I was a girl - I had the right over my own body. I grew up believing we live in a land of laws.

Mr. Bush - You have since shown me that Americans cannot be trusted, they must be spied on. Torture is a good think, nevermind all the dead witches - and obviously they were stamped out coz torture works. As a woman, my health and the health of my sisters should be mandated by a VETRINARIAN (oh yes I did see that), and I should have no right over my body. Lastly, I would like you to know, during the Clinton impeachment, I believed that there was a case. A president should be held to a higher moral standard and SHOULD NOT LIE. I believed if it wasn't persued it would create a terrible precident for future presidents. WOW. I'm curious if you even know what the truth looks like? You have zero respect for the rule of law and nothing but contempt for the Constitution.

If you were a real American, you would step down in disgrace.

10. Here's mine...
Resign within 10 days or you will face impeachment, indictment, and imprisonment at the hands of US citizens. This is my country, not your private fantasy world.

12. I can't stand to see the word President before the name Bu*h.
It is simply not accurate, unless it is in reference to Poppy, who I believe was actually legitimately elected.
