"This isn't about intel anymore. This is about regime change.' "

According to the retired top CIA spy in Europe, this is what the Bushists said when they learned a high-placed source in Saddam's government had reliable information that Iraq had no viable WMD program.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/04/21/60minutes/main1527749.shtml

Drumheller, who retired last year, says the White House ignored crucial information from a high and credible source. The source was Iraq's foreign minister, Naji Sabri, with whom U.S. spies had made a deal.

When CIA Director George Tenet delivered this news to the president, the vice president and other high ranking officials, they were excited — but not for long.

"<The source> told us that there were no active weapons of mass destruction programs," says Drumheller. "The <White House> group that was dealing with preparation for the Iraq war came back and said they were no longer interested. And we said 'Well, what about the intel?' And they said 'Well, this isn't about intel anymore. This is about regime change.' "

They didn't want any additional data from Sabri because, says Drumheller: "The policy was set. The war in Iraq was coming and they were looking for intelligence to fit into the policy."

The White House declined to respond to this charge, but Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has stated that Sabri was just one source and therefore not reliable....

By Condi's standards, there are now so many sources that say the Bushists fudged the pre-war intel to have a war by any means necessary, the burden of proof is on them to show they were acting in good faith. They'll NEVER be able to prove that!

1. Well,
doesn't this call for MEDALS ALL AROUND????

I mean, George Tenet got his, so shouldn't Fuckface be giving them out to Cheney and Rumsfeld, bring Spitmouth Wolfowitz back and slap one on him, too. And let's not forget Condi and Rove and poor old Scooter and maybe Andy Card will come back. Ari Fleischer, for sure, and let's not leave out bedraggled old 'tardo, Scottie McClellan.

I have a design for those new medals. The old ones, well, they were so, you know, predictable:

I'm thinking of something more along this kind of design:

2. They keep saying they were drawn into war by bad intelligence
but as it is turning out, only the intelligence they chose to believe was bad. "One source, and therefore unreliable" doesn't fly.

when they finally meet the judge at the world court for ahem, yes War Crimes, and crimes against peace and crimes against humanity... only one more indictment to go for the foursome at Nuremberg.
