Conservative Voice: Fred Phelps "molded out of excrement by Satan"

As a young boy my family and I would go to military cemeteries to place flags on graves and pray, usually for strangers but sometimes for those we knew and lost. When my father returned from Vietnam I can recall him standing over my infant brother’s grave at Arlington Cemetery, looking down on a son he lost but never knew. Two rows over from my brother is where my maternal grandparents are buried, and in-front of me, on that day, was a woman weeping for a son she must have lost in Vietnam. Arlington, like all the other veterans cemeteries across this country, is where we honor those who served and the families they left behind.

Today, we have within our "conservative" ranks a filth, unlike anything I have seen in my 50 years of life. These individuals were not molded out of clay by God, but out of excrement by Satan. They consist of members of Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka Kansas and their little crusade involves going to the funerals of fallen American soldiers and mocking their deaths. These morons are doing this because of America's lenient attitudes towards homosexuality, and they think, if they do think, that they are shaming us by shaming our American heroes. If they are doing God's will, as they claim, then I want a different God. If God gave me a choice between praying in their "church" or marching in a "gay pride" parade, I would keep my head down and march in the parade. The good news is that God would never be so mean and so I can only assume that the entity which inspires their black little souls has a huge heating bill.

Just...wow. This is language the GLBT community has used for him and his hatemongering family for many years now. I'm glad to see that the right wing is beginning to see this.

Of course, I caught the homophobia at the end of this article ("If God gave me a choice between praying in their "church" or marching in a "gay pride" parade, I would keep my head down and march in the parade"). But it's a blistering indictment of Phelps from people whom you'd think would support him.

demonizing him is because Phelps is unfortunately one of us, a Democrat, who has picketed outside of the Crawford, Texas ranch even before Cindy Sheehan. If he were a Bushbot I doubt if there would be any criticism.

I believe in being nice to everybody. Why is that so difficult to understand?

Was this hypocrite distancing himself when the Phelps cult was picketing the funerals of gay people and AIDS victims? No, like most conservative goons, he only spoke up when it was yet another excuse to wrap himself in the flag.
And I'm so glad he'd rather keep his "head down and march in a "gay pride" parade". Don't do us any favors, Joe. You are a bigot just like Fred and company. Just a different kind of bigot. In my book you are as contemptible as he is, maybe more so because he's certifiably nuts but you are just a stinking hypocrite.

Phelps is a nut and easy to hate. And should be hated. He is also a very nice distraction from the Right's continued warmongering. I will waste no time on Fred Phelps.

doesn't agree with his hate-filled, pathetic world view. just because he makes you uncomfortable, oh good christian, does NOT mean that he was created by satan.
once again, you have a choice--either god created this piece of insanity, or there is another entity out there as powerful as your god, which means that YOUR deity is NOT omnipotent. those are your only two choices.
as for "hanging your head", do you realize what a closeted bigot you are? probably not, sadly enough. I am sure you feel morally superior to phrootloop, but that comment put you on about the same level, only difference being that you hide your bigotry better than phred.
