So...I bought a "lot" of books today at a flea market
because I sell books on Ebay.
In this group of books, I found a book that might turn a few heads and just wondering if I should just forget about it and turf it.
I don't want any hassles from Agent Mike.
It is the "little red book that may be the most powerful--and challenging document of the century".
"Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung" Complete and Unexpurgated.
Sooo...would you risk putting it on Ebay or what?

1. personally..

...I wouldn't worry about it. It's a (still relatively) free country.

2. oh how funny
I just brought that up in a Tibet Monastic Tradition class the other day; I remember when the school kids of China were given those.

How much do you want for it? Check your PM please.

4. It's a cultural oddity but nowhere near being banned
although, yes, you'd be put on some sort of list at Border's or Barnes and Noble if you'd bought the sucker for anything but cash.

Cash, by the way, is the great anonymizer.

7. I love the idea that Border's keeps lists
It's so laughable. On what grounds would one justify the expense of such lists to the shareholders? It's just silly.

6. They sell it in Barnes and Noble

Why shouldn't you put it on eBay?

There is no risk. Capital doesn't care about content, which was one of Marx's points. As soon as you put it on the market, it is a part of capital, and its exchange value nullifies any qualitative difference it might have from Danielle Steele.

As one of the previous posters said - and this is the whole doctrine of Marxism in one sentence - "cash is the great equalizer."

9. I vaguely remember someone being questioned
by DHS because they bought this book.
I don't remember the entire story about it though.

8. Right now I'm wrestling with
seriously pornographic playing cards - they're vintage, but man...
We run a "family friendly" show at eBay :)
I'll end up listing them in the Adult/Mature category and take a shower later!
I say go ahead and put it out there.

15. Sounds like the kind of stuff an extra selling name comes in handy for.
Many I know do for "special" items such as those. :D

The good news is... they'll probably do well behind the curtain in adult.... although don't tell PayPal. Unless they changed it back it's technically against their TOS to pay for such things using them (yeah I know.. silly bs).

16. With all the wild stuff sold on eBay as a fellow seller I wouldn't worry
too much about it. That's probably very tame in comparison to some books I've seen listed. :)
