YAKIMA, Wash.- Members of the local Service Employees International Union filed an unfair labor practice against Yakima Regional Hospital. Regional laid off 19 service and technical employees earlier this month.

Union members say this is against their contract. According to the union, their contracts state the hospital must give members 21 days notice to lay off workers.

"What actually happened was managers walked up to employees, took their name tags and escorted them off the premises," said Denise Baeza, a union leader.

Union leaders and hospital administrators planned to meet today to discuss the issue and renegotiate employee contracts. Because of weather and flight delays, leaders are rescheduling to negotiate after the Holidays.
