The fallout from a prostitution sting at a Council Bluffs hotel apparently will cost Omaha Fire Capt. Darren Bates his job.
Bates, 42, learned Tuesday that Fire Chief Mike McDonnell has recommended his termination.
Bates, who has been on paid administrative leave since Feb. 4 -- and will remain so until after the city process is completed.
Bates was ticketed in a prostitution sting last month at a Bluffs hotel. According to the citation, Bates solicited a sex act for $150. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Bates had temporarily stepped down as president of the local firefighters’ union. He remains a member of the Bluffs’ City Council.
Bates could not immediately be reached for comment.
