Workers claim mistreatment by Pulte subcontractor

03:38 PM Mountain Standard Time on Friday, June 22, 2007

By Kim Martinez / 3TV reporter

Workers at a Pulte construction site in Florence were picketing unfair treatment by a subcontractor when a water truck passed by and apparently sprayed water on them.

The AFL-CIO is now in a battle with Pulte Homes and it's getting nasty.

The main mission of the AFL-CIO was to bring the workers to a news conference Friday to show the faces behind all of the state's home construction.

In addition to bringing the construction workers to the state Capitol, the organization also showed a video of workers who were picketing alleged unfair labor treatment by a subcontractor of a Pulte home site in Florence in May.

The video shows a water truck driving by the workers and spraying those involved in the protest.

The employees were allegedly sprayed several times over the course of a couple days by the water truck.

Workers call the treatment humiliating and embarrassing and said they want Pulte to take responsibility.
