Steelworkers ratify agreement with Simmons Canada Inc.

MONTREAL, June 22 /CNW/ - Members of the United Steelworkers' (USW)
Local 1-1000 have ratified a new, three-year collective agreement with
mattress-maker Simmons Canada Inc.
The union defeated company demands for concessions and rollbacks and has
won wage increases of 50 cents an hour in each of the contract's three years.
Other improvements include severance pay, overtime, vacations, bereavement
leave, and a commitment by Simmons to resolve issues relating to the company's
bonus system.
The 130 employees facility produce mattresses and box springs.

The USW represents more than 280,000 men and women working in every
sector of Canada's economy.
