Union workers at BART say they may have to go on strike, if there's no new contract agreement by the time the old one expires at midnight on June 30th.

One labor leader says all

five unions are scheduled to vote on a contract soon, but that might turn into a strike vote if there's no proposal to vote on.

For their part, BART officials say the unions have yet to approve any proposal that would help the transit agency close its $250 million deficit and secure a new contract.

BART is seeking $100 million in concessions from its unions, which represent 2,800 of its 3,200 staffers.

1. I spent a summer downtown SF working for 11 an hour...
even at that had I been able to find a place which I couldn't because of the housing crisis in 2000 there is no way I could have afforded the BART.
