NJ hospital reaches tentative deal with union
The Associated Press
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. - Nurses at a New Jersey hospital are set to vote on a tentative contract Tuesday.
Englewood Hospital and Medical Center locked out 700 members of the Health Professionals and Allied Employees union on June 3.
Hospital officials say the union must approve the deal by 9 p.m. or it will extend its contract with replacement nurses.
A union spokeswoman says the nurses feel positive about the settlement.
Meanwhile, 850 nurses, technicians and other health care workers reached a tentative agreement with Bayonne Medical Center on Sunday. They're due to vote Thursday.
The employees returned to work Friday after the hospital ended a three-day lockout.
