Rally Wednesday to congratulate Franken

http://www.workdayminnesota.org/index.php?news_6_4096

1 July 2009
ST. PAUL - Minnesotans will gather at the steps of the State Capitol Wednesday at noon to congratulate Al Franken, Minnesota’s new U.S. Senator.
On Tuesday, the Minnesota Supreme Court unanimously declared Franken the winner of last November’s election. Franken, his wife, Franni, and U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar will be among the speakers.

The rally is hosted by the Alliance for a Better Minnesota, Americans United for Change, Minnesota AFL-CIO, AFSCME Council 5, Working America, SEIU MN State Council, DFL Party, United Auto Workers, St. Paul Regional Labor Federation and the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation.

The Minnesota AFL-CIO notes that parking is limited in the Capitol area and encourages participants to carpool and use public transportation if possible. The federation provided this parking information.

Public metered parking (bring quarters) is available at Lot Q, north of the Capitol at Cedar Street and Sherburne Avenue; Lot AA, across from the State Office Building at Aurora Avenue and Rice Street; and the orange level of the Centennial Building Ramp at Cedar Street and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. All-day parking is available in Lot Q and the Centennial ramp. Public street metered parking is available along John Ireland Boulevard and Fuller Avenue, which are near the Transportation Building.

Outdoor disability parking is available in Lot N, which is on the northwest side of the Capitol, and in Lot F. Indoor disability parking is available on the blue level of the Centennial Office Building Ramp; and on the entry level of the Administration Building Ramp (two stalls).
