Deere & Co. and UAW reach tentative contract agreement

October 1, 2009

Moline, Illinois - Deere and Company and UAW leaders have reached a tentative contract agreement.

Company and union leaders say the new deal will last another six years, but have not released terms of the contract. Those terms will go before the full union membership for a vote.

The new contract will cover 9,500 current employees and 17,000 retirees.

The two sides have been in negotiations since August.

We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more about the agreement.

1. I understand they are going to court over something in a past contract

I'm not sure what it is.

Deere retracted benefits from salaried retirees....big hardship and big lawsuit....

it's in the courts right now....
