AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler speaks today to young activists from across the country at the "A Better Deal" conference in Washington, D.C. Drawing from the recent report "The Lost Decade" Shuler will talk about plans by the labor movement and other groups to build a better future for young people left behind economically over the past ten years. As the new AFL-CIO leadership reaches out more to young people, Shuler says the labor movement may have to adopt new terminology to effectively communicate with young workers who may not identify as much with work as previous generations.

: "Speaking in their language. And we're gonna have to pick some brains of the young generation to really identify what terminology works for them and so that they can connect the dots of what the labor movement has to offer for them. We may not necessarily want to continue to think in the same language that we've been thinking in for decades. We may want to re-evaluate that."
