Every vote counted (one week later) my candidate lost because she is a woman update
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 08:56 PM by Omaha Steve

Last week my local had a runoff election for Vice President. There was a two vote difference out of 175 (out of 550 members) votes cast. Three votes had been deemed invalid. It got dicey when I pointed out last Thursday the apparent winner didn't a simple majority of ALL the ballots cast. I started a small war. Today the canvasing of the physical ballots from across the statewide area was performed. The 3 votes were ruled valid as the rules state. My candidate lost by one vote on simple majority, 88-87. Note that it was not 50% plus one OR 51%. Those are the rules. I lost my effort to set aside the election and do the entire process again because of irregularities 3-1. I didn't have a vote. I was an observer for the losing candidate.

Mary lost because a large majority of members in smaller towns wouldn't vote for woman. The only woman on the election committee voted for Mary and to set aside the election.

I've been busy preparing for this the last five days. I'll be my old regular self and posting at my regular pace in a day or two.

OS

I forgot to post the vote result. It is now updated.
