On Tuesday, Aug. 7, MSNBC and XM Radio will carry the AFL-CIO Presidential Candidates Forum live from Chicago from 7–8:30 p.m. EDT (6–7:30 p.m. CDT). “Countdown” host Keith Olbermann will moderate.

Unlike other televised debates and forums, union members will ask questions of the candidates, with the focus on issues that are important to working families. (If you’re a union member, submit your own question here—anyone can vote for their favorites here.)

Thousands are expected to attend the forum, and we want to ensure working families across the country get to take part as well. You can help out by hosting a debate watch party with your friends, family and union members.

We’ve made it easy to hold one—You can download the “Planning a Watch Party” toolkit in PDF format here.

The toolkit includes:

* Talking points on the importance of watching the AFL-CIO Presidential Candidates Forum.
* A working families issue guide, on topics like good jobs, the Employee Free Choice Act, trade and manufacturing, health care, education and retirement.
* Tips on hosting a successful watch party.
* A sample invitation flier.

Let us know you’re hosting a watch party. Send an e-mail to aomens@aflcio.org and describe your event, including where it will be and approximately how many people you expect to attend.

And remember, you have the opportunity to submit and pick the questions the candidates answer. Only members of AFL-CIO affiliate unions can submit questions, but anyone can vote.
