Kansas construction accident attorneys alerts- OSHA is investigating a fatal workplace accident in Labette County that left one construction worker dead.

Parsons, KS—A construction worker was tragically killed in workplace accident on Wednesday morning, April 28, 2010, when a 500-pound plastic pipe fell onto him. The fatal accident occurred a half-mile west of the 1000 Road and Douglas intersection, just southwest of Edna, as reported by KOAMTV.

The Labette County Sheriff’s Office stated the county’s Emergency Communication Center received a call at 8:57 a.m. alerting them about the accident. Chad D. Johnson, 43, of Edna was reportedly cutting the plastic bindings of a 500-pound roll of plastic pipe, when it fell over and trapped Johnson underneath it.

The Labette County coroner arrived at the scene where they pronounced him dead. BRB Construction Company of Edna reportedly employed Johnson at the time of the fatal workplace accident. Johnson’s body has since been transported to Topeka for an autopsy.

The pipe Johnson was working with at the time apparently is used to deliver natural gas underground. Investigators with the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov are expected to arrive at the scene to conduct a full investigation into the tragic accident.
