The primary media narrative is that voters were seeking a more conservative agenda and therefore they voted out Democrats in favor of Republicans, but is that true? Jesse Russell crunches the numbers.

If one looks at the Democratic losses by ideological caucus a different trend emerges. The Congressional Progressive Caucus only lost three of the 72 progressive seats that were up for grabs. Meanwhile, the moderate New Democrats Coalition had 45 New Democrats only seats up for grabs. They lost 15 of those seats. And the worst performing of Election Night was the conservative Blue Dog Coalition which had 29 seats up for grabs and lost 13. The current House of Representatives Democrat make-up is 30 percent Progressive vs. 39 percent moderate and conservative Democrats. If the next session of Congress were to begin today the Democrat composition would be 38 percent Progressives and 28 percent moderates and conservatives.

1. This is what I've been telling people today
All the "media narrative" about this election is nothing but propaganda. Our media is largely nothing more than Soviet-style Pravda now, so the corporations just fire up their Wurlitzer to prepare the country for their planned malfeasance: looting the treasury while dismantling all social programs (sadly, with Obaba's assistance.)

But look at the facts: The House never got anything worthwhile through the Senate anyway, so what difference will it make what the new House puts out? None. Everything will still die in the Senate.

Sure, the House will be a circus for two years with "birther" hearings, impeachment, etc. Who cares? It still won't affect anything. We've been in political gridlock for decades now.

Furthermore, what difference does it really make if a blue-dog democrat gets replaced with a republican? None. Both vote with the republicans anyway.

The only thing yesterday's election means is that things will go along for another two years the same way they have in the past two years. In fact, it just might open the door for more progressive democrats to get into office.

2. Olbermann just did a segment comparing Exit Polls to Republican Claims
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 07:46 PM by emulatorloo
Exit polls show most voters don't care about the deficit, and the most important thing is either Job Creation or Tax Cuts. Both of which require more government spending.

Only 36(?)% said it was a "protest vote" against Obama - others said they either supported Obama or Obama was not a factor in their vote.

Kind of a good COUNTDOWN tonight,

He also has a segment on Tea Party groups threatening Boehner to not deviate from the Teabag line. Boehner is screwn.
