Union members ratify deals with nine downtown Las Vegas casinos

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Union workers at nine downtown Las Vegas casinos have ratified new 5-year deals with their properties.

The votes by Culinary and Bartenders Union members came in separate shift meetings yesterday (Saturday).

The votes cover about 4,400 workers at the Fremont, Main Street Station, Golden Nugget, Plaza, Las Vegas Club, Western, El Cortez, Fitzgerald's and Four Queens.

The agreement increases wages and benefits by $2.40 to $2.90 per hour, maintains free family health insurance and a pension.

The deal means that only about 4,000 workers are left operating under extensions of expired contracts.

Those workers are at the Tropicana casino-hotel on the Strip, two industrial laundries, Golden Gate, Binions and Jerry's Nugget and the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.
