Congressman Tim Walz rallies with Union members

Congressman Tim Walz

ROCHESTER , MN -- Union workers who were fired from their jobs at a local hotel receive encouragement from a political supporter.

Congressman Tim Walz rallied with union members out side the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Rochester .

The former workers say they were let go unfairly after the hotel came under new ownership last month.

Those employees were joined by other local unions to show support for their cause and for legislation called the Employee Free Choice Act, which is a bill Walz co-sponsors.

Congressman Walz says, "This is not anti-business or pro-business this is simply sticking to those values that we care about: equal pay for equal work, the ability to organize and ask for safe working conditions, for pensions and health care, there's plenty of money for everyone on this."

Congressman Walz says his office will send a letter to the new ownership to help the laid-off employees get their jobs back.
