Anyone been to Pompeii? I've always wanted to see it, but seems like
most tours that go to Rome/Italy don't include it. Is it worth seeing?

1. You need a tour that goes to Capri/Sorrento or Naples
it will most likely include or have an option for Pompeii.

Yes, it is worth seeing, it is really cool. I was there in 1997 for an architectural history program. Make sure you get to Capri, it is gorgeous!

2. Definitely see it, and Herculaneum too, if at all possible. Check references to the Amalfi coast.
Pompeii is absolutely incredible. You might have to do it as a separate trip, along the Amalfi Coast (Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Capri, etc). It would be hard to coordinate it with a 'Roman Holiday', so to speak, unless you have lots of time and facilities for travel to the coast.

3. Pompeii is really cool
hey, have your ever thought of Elderhostel? http://www.elderhostel.org/

I don't know if you are the age that they require, but being a letter carrier, I see their brochures and they look very interesting.

4. I've been on one of their trips, to Canada, last summer.

I really enjoyed that trip and plan to go on some more.

6. I've been there twice. You must also go to museum in Naples!
The archaeological museum in Naples is where many of the Pompeii mosaics were taken. Be sure to book a viewing of the "secret room" in the museum, where all the erotic stuff is kept on display. You have to ask about it when you get there because it's not open to the public at large. It's easy to get into -- and SO eye-opening.
