US Travel??
Is anybody interested in anything to do with US Travel? I can post stuff, just doesn't seem like there's much interest. Let me know.

Such as...

3. Medeak, I'd love to hear more about your travels.
Are you a fulltimer? My husband and I keep tossing the idea around about selling everything and traveling fulltime in an RV. We have a Class B RV/campervan that we bought about a year ago and we really love it. We'd need something bigger if we go fulltime and that is my hesitation. I don't like big RVs but I love the freedom of our B.

We went on a cross-country roadtrip last fall. Drove from Maryland through West Virginia, Pa, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa (saw the Field of Dreams), Minnesota, South Dakota (Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park Buffalo Run), Wyoming, Utah (Flaming Gorge), Colorado, back through Utah (Arches NP, Monument Valley), Arizona, California, back to Arizona, New Mexico for the ABQ Balloon Fiesta, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Va and back to Maryland. We had a wonderful trip.

I have some liberal guilt over owning a motorhome although the van gets pretty good gas mileage for an RV. It has changed our lives. We mostly do fairly local trips-Assateague, Chincoteague, Md State Parks, Gettysburg, etc,-but my real passion is cross-country travel. I am obsessed with fulltimer blogs like Tioga George and RV-Dreams. I wish there were a forum for Progressive RVers as most of the RV forums are pretty right-wing.

I'm always hesitant to discuss RVs on DU because I know most people think they are terrible. I use to think they were terrible, too but I'm realizing it is possible to be a progressive RVer. I am much more aware of environmental issues from my travels. We are more conscious about conserving water for example and about supporting and preserving our State and National Parks. I love staying at campgrounds versus staying at motels. We did a cross-country roadtrip in 2005 in a car and waking up in motels was depressing to me. We would drive through beautiful areas and then end up staying in a motel in some ugly big-box/strip mall area. Staying in campgrounds and waking up to mountains, deserts, rivers etc was so much nicer.

Do you have a travel blog? I'd love to read it if you do.

4. Need help for a friend for a small town fishing spot
along the Mississippi or Alabama coast. They would like a no frills spot with house or cottage for rent for a week with just local cuisine etc. I have not been back myself since Katrina so don't know if anyplace was left untouched or has been rebuilt. I traveled by car from New Orleans to Florida along the coast and enjoyed the small towns and local restaurants etc. It was a different kind of trip for me, just kind of laid back and no razzle dazzle. I think that is what they are looking for.
Any help would be appreciated.
