Chicago
So I'll be in Chicago this weekend.
Any recommendations as to how to pass the time?

1. Oh, HELL yes.
Depending on what you are into and what you can't get at home.

2. It's friday already, and you may not be able to give feeback.
So let me direct you to some sources.

www.metromix.com has food and entertainment by type and location, with reviews when available.

Time Out Chicago magazine has more of the same in detail and more to the hepster side. The Chicago Reader (which is also online somewhere) is a free weekly magazine and has all the off off off loop entertainment.

I like the touristy stuff. I go up the Sears, I go to Second City, I go on the Wendella boat tour, I like the Chicago architects tour, I go to Millenium Park.

The Field Museum has artifacts from Pompeii on loan, and that's really good for three hours. But all the museums have something, and March weather is always iffy, so have plans.

Blues music at Kingston Mines or Blues Chicago is good, if you can take the cigarette smoke.

3. Thanks
Thanks for direction to metromix and time out. Time is indeed a constraint. I've been checking out Chicago Reader and Hot Tix online, thinking theater Saturday night. I'm familiar with Loop, River North, Magnificent Mile, Gold Coast. But there is so much more to city which I've yet to figure out. Last time I explored Bucktown which was pretty cool area. I'd rather be checking out boho art galleries, than shopping mag mile. Thanks again.

4. Go to the Illinois section and ask specifically about B'town and galleries
The thing about galleries and theater in Chicago is that they really are hit and miss. Me, I don't mind a disappointment if there's not much money involved, but you are investing time. As to Bucktown or Wicker Park, I'm a vistor myself in those areas.

Here's a link on the newest of the new in art colonies in Chicago.

5. art galleries

The Reader also has a great section on art exhibitions and galleries. Actually, the Reader is good for just about everything.

Chicago has tons and tons of great museums.
