Anyone been to Lithuania, Lativa or Estonia? Planning a trip there and would be interested in suggestions. Thanks.

1. I've heard Baltic cruises advertised
and I know one couple that went, but I don't know if they liked it or not.

2. I know the reply is waaay late, but I was in Estonia and Latvia
in March and April. And St. Petersburg and Helsinki as well.

I took a Russian and Baltic tour with goahead vacations for twelve days, and then stayed with my aunt in Latvia for an extra week. It was all great. Very cold, but since I live in the Florida Keys, I didn't mind the change in the weather. I walked on the frozen Baltic at the Bay of Finland in St. Petersburg, crossed it with an icebreaker ferry going to Helsinki, and strolled along the shore in Riga. We went to the opera and the theater. We walked through dozens of amazing castles and cathedrals and museums. We ate fabulous food. I found Russia to be pretty depressing and dirty, and the people quite standoffish. But it was still astounding to see the steam rising over the rivers of the city, and the Cathedral of the Spilt Blood is mindboggling. Pictures don't do it justice. My favorites were Tallinn and Riga. Both cities are medieval, yet modern, and happy and hopeful. We didn't get to Lithuania since it wasn't on the trip itinerary and I didn't have family to visit there, but I think it is probably a lot like Latvia. And Latvia to me looked a lot like northern Michigan where I was raised.

Hope this helps. :)
