Power Conversion Question (Germany)

I got a converter and set of plug adapters. What I'm wondering is, can I bring a power strip so that I can plug in more than one device at a time? For example, charge a phone and camera batteries? It's a 50 watt voltage converter.

At least newer models are usually specified to work with 230V@50Hz and 110V@60Hz. (BTW, I hope it's a triband GSM phone). In my experience it's cheaper to use mechanic converters for the compatible devices and buy new chargers for devices which are not.

Technically the converter should be able to take several small appliances at once, but I would be careful. Check the converter's manual to be sure. Don't plug big consumers in (i.e. no Laptop).
Also, carrying a power cord over the atlantic sounds like more work than it's worth.

I knew I didn't need the converter for the laptop but didn't think about the phone and camera chargers possibly being compatible. Magellen has a "conversion wizard" on its site -- I'll check out the chargers. The converter didn't come with a manual.

It sounds like maybe all we'll need is more plug adapters if we want to plug in more than one item at a time. Maybe we'll just work out a charging schedule instead. ;)

Phone, shaver, camera, notebook - all worked in the US grid just as well as at home.

If it says "100-240V 50/60Hz" on the device (or similar, important is the more than 230V part) , you're fine. Otherwise you'll need a converter, but even the Playstation I bought in the US works over here without any extra equipment.
