Has anyone been to Morocco, or Marrakash?
If so, how safe did you feel there? Is it worth the trip?

1. Yes! I loved it.
Took the train from Tangiers to Marrakech. When we went to the train station the most exotic guy, a licensed tour guide looking for someone to hire him--which was not going to be me and my daughter, intoned, "Madame, everything is different. You are in Africa." And he was so right. Marrakech was fantastic--in so many ways a jumping off place to a different way of life.
I heartily recommend Morocco. Safe? No one can predict the next insanity.

2. While it has been a number of years
I did a cruise stop at Casablanca and while the tour I took had no problems the tour to Marrakesh was crazy with tons of beggars running around the buses and people.

LOL and you have to be Liberal with your views of what a good red meat is..... If you go to meat markets you will be seeing pictures of Black Beauty over some of the meats...

3. No but I sure would love to go
Now that we are in Europe, it's not that far...but I wonder about safety too. I studied Islamic Architecture in grad school, and I sure would love to see the sights!

4. Definitely worth the trip

The old part of Marrakech may not be someplace you want to navigate without a guide. Not because it's unsafe, but because it is just so easy to get lost. You'll find any number of licensed guides in the tourist areas.
