1. Glad to see you, things are a little quiet on this forum.
Wish people would post their experiences so we could all learn from them. I check daily but not much changes. Been anywhere lately? Are you planning a trip? I'm trying to find a good fare Boston to Paris end of May. Very $$$. I must admit, I get very tired of filling in all the possible dates, etc on every airline and consolidator site. Even people on the travel site forums like Fodor's, Frommer's, Rick Steves and others are posting complaints about high fares. Today on a Fodor's thread, many were celebrating a mistake that allowed them to buy tickets on United to Paris from San Francisco for mid-$500.00 inc taxes. Don't know if I would have been up in the middle of the night to get that one, assuming Boston was one of the choices. What brought you to this forum?

2. Airfare to Europe is bad right now
My wife and I are heading to Mexico on Tuesday for a 4 day trip to celebrate my 50th. We're planning on going to France in September after our daughter goes off to college. That will be our 25th anniversary.

We caught a good deal to Cancun. 310 round trip. We hate resorts so going south to Akumal and will visit Tulum one day.

I've working on my website and writing up past trips. No one ever reads them but I like putting it down so I don't forget. Take a look if you want.

Are you signe up for Travel Zoo and Sherman's travel emails? I haven't been paying attention to Paris airfare yet so not sure if anything has come up recently.

3. Great web site
It's very special to keep up with your memories like that -- I'm sure your family appreciates it. I enjoyed the Death Valley entry, as I used to live in the area!

Airfares to Europe are SILLY right now. My family will fly to England twice this year, and between airfare and exchange rates, it might bankrupt us!

Another forum to watch is http://www.tripso.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=110, the "I got a bargain!" forum. It's frequented by good travel agents who are always on the lookout for valid bargains.

Enjoy your travels!

4. Thanks, glad you liked it.
I'm working backwards and will put up some Mt Ranier photos shortly.
Tripso looks interesting, thanks for the link.

5. You can thank the weak US dollar policy for that
and oil prices.

It's quite reasonable for Europeans to fly to the US, but not the other way around. We bank Lufthansa miles and fly our kids over in the summer on FF miles to avoid the horrendous costs. My youngest is coming in high season (July-Aug) and her ticket would have cost over $2000, but it was 300euros with taxes and fees thanks to FF miles.

It never pays to use FF miles off season, just my .02 euro cents.

6. You're absolutely right about the FF miles
I talked to my mother-in-law today, and they are kindly using their Virgin FF miles to fly us over to see them in July -- thank goodness, I'm breathing a little sigh of relief!
