Holiday Travel? Any Ideas?
Edited on Mon Apr-30-07 06:34 PM by mentalsolstice
My spouse and I went to Banff, Alberta last year Dec. 23-Jan. 2, and loved it! We'd like to do something again this year during the same time period. My spouse's employer has a generous holiday policy, so he can get a lot of time off without using up all of his saved vacation days. I'm finding that choices are getting slim or are already booked up. We'd like to stay basically on this continent, N. Am., Central AM, or South Am.

Anybody know of anything exciting, unique, etc.? We've considered Newfoundland, or viewing the northern lights in the Yukon Territory...

1. couple of years ago my wife and I flew to Seattle - headed to
Victoria - drove north - and circled around back to Vancouver.

Will be doing that again in November.

Beautiful drive - great people.

3. there is so much to do in the area
south to see Mt Ranier and Mt St Helens

north to BC - Vancouver and Victoria

north - then off to the west to the Cascades

east into the Olympic mountains

or just stay in Seattle and enjoy the City Market, the great food, the rain . . . .

can't wait until Nov when we get to go back . . . such a change from the Daytona Beach area

4. Ooops! Cascades to the East and
Olympics to the West.

What about driving to Tofino--western side of Vancouver Is. There are some nice places to stay. You might catch some of the winter storms that burst in from the Pacific over there. Or Whistler Mt. Or--go to Winthrop, Washington, just over the Cascade Mts. and north of Seattle. There are a set of cross country ski trails over there. Winthrop is a kind of funky "wild west" town.
