I believe she's required to release her returns, and it's for a very practical reason: without knowing what the spoused of politicians earn, their bank accounts become a perfect hiding place for hiding illegal deposits of all kinds. It's all about keeping your husband honest, Cindy--what have you got against that?

Unless she can get her pal Dubya to pass a law that exempts her, political spouses HAVE to make their tax returns public--otherwise, what's to stop them from having their bank accounts used to hide bribes and payoffs?

On the other hand, if she DID get her pal Dubya to pass a law that exempts her, then how could John say that he's NOT going to be a departure from Bush? This might work in our favor after all?
