4. I think Obama and McCain should work a deal (and their fans)...
Promise no Rev. Wright or Hagee from now on. To most of us, that is not news. Most religious people realize they've been "used" by politics these last 8 years. Lets give them a break and keep religion out of politics and politics out of religion!

6.  I respectfully disagree...
Obama has publicly (and probably painfully) distanced himself from Wright and his remarks. The Fossil has publicly sought the endorsement of Hagee, and worse yet Rod Parsley. I think the fact that he apparently respects these 2 hate mongers and would possibly seek their advise, including one who would like to wage open war on Islam is VERY relevant to the campaign. I am wholeheartedly behind separation of church and state, but it seems to me that if The Fossil is elected we will have at least 4 more years of a president guided by right wing, religious, war and hate mongering Christian zealots.

7. You know why there's not outcry against Hagee?
Tune into the show. His sermons are straight out of the Bible. I caught a show the other day about the end times. he had big displays with teh 4 horsements, and the 7 this and the 14 that. Crazy nutty stuff. But it's all straight out of Book of Revelation.

You attack Hagee, you attack the Bible. I'm not saying I agree with Hagee (my family is Muslim -- I don't!). The sticky wicket is that most mainline protestants and catholics use the spirit of the bible as a guide. Hagee preaches what's in there.

The quote Rachel uses is an exception, but the vast majority of his preaching is straight out of the good Book.

8. Um, no.
Ask your average non-fundamentalist if Hagee's *interpretation* of Revelation-- an interpretation that changes every week, by the way-- is considered mainstream or non-crazy, and you'll get a resounding "No" pretty much each and every time. He certainly does not read it or preach it the way Catholic or Orthodox people do, and I haven't for that matter heard him concur with the opinions of the Lutherans, the Presbyterians, the Methodists, and so on and so forth. Not all Christians interpret Revelation in the same way. If you think he's just "preaching what's in there," you don't know what you're talking about.

10. I'm a former Lutheran.
Lutherans don't even *read* Revelations, much less preach from it.

I'm not criticizing Christianity, or defending Hagee in the slightest. Jeremiah Wright is criticized for the extra-Biblical stuff, but I do think confronting Hagee forces Christians to confront what's in the book!
