and the he basically argued against equal pay for women, made a crack about lawyers and the crowd clapped? What in that warranted applause? Plus he misrepresented that girls words on the show later that night. Classy guy. He made it sound like she stood up and accused him of something in an unreasonable way and then he was a nice guy and talked it out with her. Right.

Wouldn't that be bizarre if Hillary Clinton was telling the same story and said
"a very attractive male questioner asked me...."

It is bizarre.

Given that this was a young girl, makes it even more bizarre.

McCain is a complete nutjob. His unresolved PTSD should leave just about
everyone scared shitless.

The way it was set up, I thought the video was going to be of him saying, "You're very attractive" to the girl directly. Like, trying to be complimentary but coming off creepy (to be charitable).

As it was a while after that and he was just retelling the story, I think he was just trying to come up with a "positive" adjective for the girl (who he probably forgot was even 14--probably just remembered it was a girl, and he tacked on an empty stock compliment in retelling it). If it had been a boy, for instance, I'm sure he would've said, "And this handsome young man...," etc. If anything, I'd chalk it up more as evidence of his being such a fake politician that he just has stock ways of dealing with people (or "my friends," as everyone apparently is to him). I'd put "creepy old dude" far down on the list of possibilities, personally.

Besides, as Mercutio said, there are a whole range of issues we can completely destroy McCain with that are far more substantive and definite than this.

Or he would have simply referred to him as a young man, period. The fact that he later referred to the girl as "very attractive" exposes a world view that objectifies women and reveals his true rationale for not supporting equal pay.

and he didn't even say it to her but just mentioned it while talking to Jon. not in a way he actually found her attractive but just to be nice.

the bigger issue here is the question that was asked and his phony defense of it.
