In this excerpted footage of Mr. Gore on Larry King he lays our clearly his focus and his mission, and it is one I sincerely hope with all of my heart that he continues on a grassroots level to spearhead because as he stated here, whoever leads regardless of the level politically, they will not be able to do so effectively unless we the people show the kind of urgency that is required regarding this crisis to cause the seachange necessary.

And frankly, while this is beginning, it has a long way to go with not much time to get that urgency and truth to the masses of people who still need it before they become that informed citizenry James Madison talked about. That is why this country needs a man of Mr. Gore's resources, environmental experience and knowledge, and business acumen to continue to be the man who works with the people to inspire them to that urgency and hope. People need to see this as a moral and spiritual issue that transcends politics, political party, and political soundbites.

When Al Gore speaks about this and gives his slideshow presentations, I do not see him doing it as a politician or Democrat, but as an American and world citizen who cares about this planet. That is why I join with Mr. Gore and others to use my energies to change those hearts and minds every day as best I can because time is of the essence, especially after the political community ignoring these warnings for thirty years. It is now our time to make them see just how much damage their closemindedness and partisanship have cost us all.

This article makes me wonder: If you gave An Inconvenient Truth to someone as a gift, have you truly changed your own lifestyle? Have you heeded the suggestions in your own life? And will we truly have to see a catastrophic event before we see the urgency?

He knows what we know. Bush is a non-starter on this, and always will be.

I watched it last June - but it's always good to look back on Gore's statements.

Also a very thought-provoking article from THE INDEPENDENT (my favorite UK newspaper).

I strongly agree with you that Al Gore is doing a great job, raising awareness about the climate crisis. He spoke to an audience of ten thousand people in Boise on Monday, and is still on Tour!

It's great that "An Inconvenient Truth" has been nominated for an Academy Award. This can only mean that more people will see it. But AIT is really only the first step - convincing people that "Yes we have a problem". Much more needs to be done on developing and implementing solutions.

I honestly believe that Al Gore is the best person to lead this fight. One way to do it would be by entering the race for the Presidency. But there are other ways.

As you know - Gore is working on his next book "The Assault on Reason" -- due out in May.

He has not ruled out being a candidate again and is keeping his options open.

I honestly believe Gore is the best person for the job. Hillary and Edwards both showed poor judgement in supporting Bu$h-Cheney on Iraq (even if I welcome Edwards change of heart on this issue). Obama might be a strong candidate some day - but he can wait a few more years. Clark is great but he lacks political experience and has never won an election campaign.

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :)

And his own words seem to be far different from the speculation constantly being put out on these forums in lieu of really discussing what he is actually saying about this. And I'm glad you liked the article, though it is also not surprising there were no answers to the questions I raised in that post because they were actually on the topic. This is not something I am looking at from a political angle and yes, AIT is only the first step, and I've contacted his office to ask him to please meet with the AIT producers and make a sequel on this crisis and for him to write another book. AIT for teens is being released this April as well which is an important step in the grassroots process, but that got no notice when posted here either, but then, it didn't contain any political speculation. He has many options open to him now and since he is making better progress out here on this than he could in that beltway which is obvious to see if you supported him through all the years, I find it hard to understand why anyone would want him to take such a risk of losing the momentun he has been building knowing how fulfilling this is for him, as it also appears that his family is very happy with it as well. I hope he continues his work out here where he can do it on HIS terms as a free man with the resources he has accumulated with those of us who truly support him in this working beside him. I would hate for him to take a step back to the past when we have so much work to do on the future.

Al Gore himself clearly wants to speak out also about other issues.

He has been addressing other issues - Iraq, wiretapping, etc. - in speeches.

As far as I know, Gore's next book The Assault on Reason is not (only) about the climate crisis.

So this coming May, when Gore is on TV talking about his new book and how to get better decision-making in government, will you be yelling at your TV "It's the climate, stupid! Get back on message!"??

I'm sure you won't be doing that. Just wanted to make my point.
