Gore is getting more and more hilariously irascible, cantankerous and pugnacious.

Love this guys' writing and interviews.

I find the combination of his pugnacious irascibility and very quick, dry humour absolutely hilarious.

How wonderful to hear Gore Vidal speak, unfortunately the BBC seems to have chosen an idiot to replace the former, and most brilliant host with a reactionary apologist of the worst kind to spout boring cliches that neither inform or entertain. To shame.

noise-machine has always been their medium of record. Even during the Clinton-impeachment persecution. They just sound like half-wits. His Channel 4 interviewer was no better, indeed, arguably worse.

If they get a US studio-guest to join a discussion, it will be an ever so sophisticated, greedhead, Republican noise-machine merchant. A liar, in other words. No wonder Vidal nearly went berserk at some of their questions.

But the nation is all of a piece. Question time is an audience-participation programme with politicians and other public figures on the stage answering questions and holding forth. You would think our middle classes were complete half-wits. When a politician stated that the employment figures were higher than ever or some such trash, not a single soul mentioned that a) many of the jobs were part-time, or b) that those, that weren't, particuarly the many at the lower end of the income spectrum, are scandalously underpaid - many having to have their income supplemented by the government; even then, of course, to arrive at a still atrociously-low income. I get almost apoplectic watching the programme. I should remember to take a heart tablet.
