2. General Clark said what is obviously true....being a war hero does NOT
automatically qualify you as presidential material. This whole thing is completely ridiculous! It's just as silly as the whole kerfuffle about Obama not wearing a flag lapel pin. Sheeesh!

3. Senator Obama has my vote, but...
he is REALLY pissing me off lately. In particular, FISA and now calling out Wesley Clark for stating the obvious. I'll vote for him, because McCain is almost as bad as Bush in my eyes, and may even turn out to be worse (if that's even possible), but I have made my last campaign contribution until he gets his shit together. For someone who "doesn't do cowering", he sure seems to be scared shitless of the right wing lately. Not long ago I was saying he may be the best president we have seen since FDR, but lately it is hard to find that kind of enthusiasm for him.

4. We must not have seen the same speech. Obama did NOT "Call out Clark"
Obama has been consistent in his belief that we should honor those who serve, while not having to agree with their politics. I think Barack probably had intended to covey this idea in this speech BEFORE the Clark thing came up; but that it also was appropriate to say it again, as he would have been dragged down by the media for days on the issue. The media puts their own slant on what is said---Clark didn't say McCain was unpatriotic, Obama didn't call out Clark for what he didn't say. You are letting the media put ideas in your head.

I thought it was another magnificent speech--I never tire of them-- and I long for the day when he is our President, so that the Media will have to show more of his remarkable insight.

6. No matter how dirty politics get...

You NEVER EVER attack a Ex POW military man. I'm ex military and served during the Viet-Nam era. You have to
tread a little softly when you go down that road during a presidential campaign.

7. So now Obama is endorsing McCain???
Clark very forcefully applauded McCain's service. He never once insinuated McCain was not patriotic.

What he said was that his service did not, in and of itself qualify MCain to be CiC. Now Obama is in effect denouncing that statement. Not only on this video, but followed it up with a statement, just to be sure. I guess Obama thinks McCain's time in the military does indeed qualify him to be CiC. Time Obama doesn't have. So, what does that mean? McCain yes, Obama no?

And what about this Vince, who Obama mentions at the beginning of the tape? I guess he's a veteran, making him qualified, too. Damn, that's a long, long line of people in front of Obama, if he heard what Clark said, and he believes Clark misspoke.

Boy, another political season of the Repukes vilifying the Democrats and SOME Democrats, running around apologizing for telling the truth.

8. Hmmmm...
Funny, but his comments don't seem so terrible to me. He's trying to win a General Election so he needs to say things like this - especially since he never served in the military himself. An esteemed veteran like Wesley Clark can get away with criticizing McCain, but if Obama ever did it, they would castigate him for having the gaul to criticize someone who "served honorably" when he himself did not. I'm sure he agrees with what Clark said (any intelligent person would), but come on - he has to tread VERY CAREFULLY when it comes to McCain's military service, and he doesn't want to get caught up in the right wing attack machine launching on Clark. He's just doing the smart thing he needs to do to win the election. I would cut him some slack on this.

Now, FISA and the death penalty? Those are the real issues I'm upset with him about.

10. Obama has got to stop doing backward flips
whenever someone questions McCain's qualifications. Somebody needs to call Obama out on this publicly. Who's advising Obama? Terry McAullife, Harold Ickes, Wohlfson? Mark Penn? Maggie Williams? Oprah?
