No drama, no music, just a reminder of what plastic bags have done to our world, and good news that so many nations have banned, or are considering bans on plastic bags.

1. Is plastic bags safe to the environment ?
Burning plastic bags will harm the environment because of the chemicals which consists in them! So the best way to prevent them is to start using paper bags which is far more safer than plastic bags. Paper bags can be recycled whereas plastic bags cannot be recycled.
So start using paper bags.

2. And what I didn't realize is that when plastic bags
decompose, they break down into smaller, more toxic, particles.

Reusable (cloth) bags are better than paper bags. It's a good thing that many cities and countries are banning plastic bags now.

6. Isn't it also true that in addition to being economically prohibitive recycling plastic bags doesn't
work that well either, because like recycling any other plastic, it will go through the consumer cycle only one more time. The material cannot be re-used after that, i.e. it's not recyclable more than one time; after that it can't be re-used anymore.

7. There's really not much (if anything) positive to say about
plastic bags. I didn't even think (until I saw that video) about how much money we spend on oil to make those plastic bags!

I foresee the day when we'll ALL be using canvas bags for shopping - you're at the forefront!

9. Hemp Bags
Saw a documentory once that showed bags made out of Hemp, they are biodegradable and non toxic but it's pointless to smoke them since they have no THC... :-)

10. And I think hemp is stronger than other options.
There are several areas where we could benefit greatly from the use of hemp. I believe some states are beginning to allow its use in manufacturing or something. When this whack country realizes it's not the same as growing pot, and that it was predominantly the timber industry that made sure hemp was outlawed, maybe we can get back to using it as the valuable resource it is.
