6. Yeah that used to be one scary place.
He flew into Tegal. That was a SCARY airport. Back in the old East/West Berlin days. Lots of people with guns. I said goodbye to my GF on her way back to the USA she was stripped searched before boarding.

What little German I could understand and seeing the foriegn minister all smiley. It was good.

As the Berliner Zeitnung wrote: Hurra! There Barack Obama is! Germany is pleased, Berlin is pleased and Frank-Walter Steinmeier is particularly pleased. For days does not hide the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, whom the two US president shank candidates he would like to see in the white house: Barack Obama. ... But: Unfortunately for Obama neither nor Frank-Walter Steinmeier the next US presidents select Berlin.

There is a language sorely in need of some latin influence.

8. TRANSCRIPTION AND TRANSLATION
Hi all,

A quick and dirty transcription and translation of the video. Special bonus points to Bild.tv for having a reporter of Turkish descent cover the festivities.
==========================================================================
German transcription:
Punkt 9:50 war es soweit. US präsidentschaftskandidat Barack Obama ist in Berlin Tegel gelandet und startet somit seinen ersten Besuch in
Deutschland.
Stop! Die Journalisten wollen mehr Bilder. Aber wo posiert man
am besten? Verständigungsprobleme. Später reden beide in Merkels Arbeitszimmer. Dann kurz ins Hotel. Und zum nächsten Gesprächspartner.
Frank Walter Steinmeyer steht bereit.
(Campaign poster: Yes, we Can).
==========================================================================
English translation:
At 9:50 sharp the moment had come. US presidential candidate Barack Obama touched down at Berlin Tegel airport to kick off his first visit to Germany. From the airport, the Democrat headed straight to the center of power. Angela Merkel greets her guest at the Chancellor's Office. A brief handshake for the photographers and time for a bit of small talk. But wait! The reporters want more pictures. But where? (note: seems to refer to the location and backdrop). Later, both chat in Merkel's office. After a quick stopover at the hotel, it's off to the next meeting. Frank Walter Steinmeyer (Germany's Secretary of State) awaits. A quick chat at the ministry that was "open and thorough" according to Germany's Secretary of State. Off again we go. Later, donning a t-shirt, he heads for a workout to the next hotel, the Ritz Carlton. Can we drive through the capital in such casual attire? (as if to answer the question, the video cuts to a Barack campaign poster reading "Yes, We Can").
