The problem with living in alaska is the lack of sunlight in the winter and dark in the summer,. I liked it when I was there in the summer, we could party all night,. however it is tough to sleep (in a tent) when the sun don't go down,. it just sorta moves towards the horizon and then goes right back up,. and in the winter it is the opposite, hardly any light at all. Also the mosqitos and deerflies in some locations are just way too much! However I suppose that is seasonal as well., otherwise if you can deal with the rednecks and crazies ( lots of real earthy folk,. trapers and gold miners, etc. ) it is beutiful country,. and you could almost live off the land,. we cought like 20 giant salman in about 2 hours,. and most folks seem to bag a moose or two and smoke/dry/freeze the stuff for the year,. however the cost of produce and other goods that just can't be grown way up there and are imported at great expence, perhaps makes up for it,. . nice place to visit.
