1. Big turnout in CLT
Just talked to my dad and he said the streets were closed (by the people, not by the city) for about 7 blocks. Tens of thousands were there just to be there. He also said the crowd was very diverse -- black, white, old, suits, college kids, young parents, everybody.

North Carolina's moderates want a change.

2. The itineraries are revealing
Obama worked Colorado hard this week and is working North Carolina. They are putting $39,000,000 into Florida. This is really taking it to McCain. At the same time, McCain is pulling Palin out of California stops and putting her at his side. This is a huge advantage for Obama because he has the luxury of a competent running mate who can effectively work Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania without Obama.

Obama doesn't have to win all these states. He is twisting McCain into knots. McCain can't figure out which of his "sure thing" states he should defend next.

Florida may become the most interesting. Polls are saying that Obama has closed 7 points to make that race practically even, and that is BEFORE his $39,000,000 starts to really do its work. In addition, Florida, more than any other state, is open to the social security argument that McCain is just handing to Obama. If McCain sees Florida slipping away, that will be extremely demoralizing to him. I can't wait.

4. Great Speech, K&R
Wow. Great speech by a great man (as usual I guess.)

Obama is going on the offensive, as a friend of mine said, "the real question is whether or not John McCain can carry Arizona."

5. "The final verdict". Yes! It's on.
I love this speech. Bush is trying to trap Obama by taking with is a manageable situation and turning it into a crisis that can only be solved by giving the Bush fascists a blank check for $800,000,000,000 on their way out the door. And Bush is trying to set up the argument, just as he did with Iraq, that if you don't give him what he's asking for, YOU will be the one responsible for disaster.

Obama is turning it right around on him and laying out some simple principles that any bailout must adhere to. While the rest of the Democrats, Schumer et al, immediately went into their familiar fetal position, one man stood up and said "No".

This is leadership. And I just love his coup de grace. What we are seeing this week is THE FINAL VERDICT on the Republicans. That is hard-hitting, but we can back it up.

Schumer and all the rest of you cowards. Grow a pair and get behind this man.
