McCain takes a position about some issue pointing out how a particular issue is bad for our country..... Any Issue..... Experience, Deregulation, Military record, Religion, Golden Parachutes, etc. Then it is pointed out that he or somebody very high up in his campaign fits the description down to the most specific detail. The person could essentially be the poster child for the issue that he speaks on. Then, all of a sudden, even though the person demonstrates the exact characteristics of this issue, it is okay. Nothing has changed, it is just okay because that person is part of his campaign.
Media: "Senator McCain, that was a great speech you just gave about how strongly you feel that murder is wrong, but your campaign manager just killed 27 people in cold blood." McCain: Well, I believe that the campaign manager did a good job of working with my campaign in many respects.
Media: "He may have, but he also admitted murdering 27 people and gave a press conference bragging about it and you just spent an hour speaking on how murder is wrong." McCain: "I realize that, but I don't know all of the details of the killings or that particular murder law. Regardless, he is a fine individual."
