1. Just listening to Al's opening statement...
Gives me the warm fuzzies...

Lost of very fond memories from that campaign...the LAST time young people were motivated to vote in large numbers. And it was a "change election", no doubt about it. I was in grad school at ECU, and so many undergrads on campus had Clinton/Gore fever. People wanted new blood in Washington in general and in the White House in particular. Al Gore came to Greenville to speak at Minges Coliseum, and he and Clinton (AND Hillary and Tipper) went on a long bus tour through the state a week before the election. We went to greet them at a stop in nearby Wilson, and a College Democrat buddy and I held up a banner that wished Hillary a happy birthday (which my parents later told me made CNN!) How we celebrated on election night, with a new Democratic president (and a returning Democratic governor, Jim Hunt) both elected. And several of ECU's College Democrats went to D.C. to witness Clinton's inaugural in person.

I only hope that scene can be replicated, both on the campus upon which I now walk (and teach)and in the nation, this November 4. Only this time, we'll make some very special history in the process. And once again, we'll have changed America for the better.:D

B-)

2. In retrospect
Dan Quayle sounds like a complete idiot talking about Bill Clinton's economic agenda.
