A McCain supporter described Barack Obama as "non-citizen" and asked the media to look into his citizenship. Obama was born in Hawaii, a U.S. state, on August 4, 1961 and is indeed a U.S. citizen. McCain, however, was born in the Panama Canal Zone and has been the subject of constitutional debate around the definition of "natural born citizen."

DU just loves to distribute and amplify wing-nut smears. This place is frequently quite sickening.

foolishness when I've seen/heard what they are talking about and have at my fingertips (and brain tips) the facts and the many pithy rejoinders found here at DU.

....ignoring and being ignorant of the opposition and what it's up to.

I'll let anyone who is concerned with Obama's citizenship try to test that theory.

they were born because their mothers were U.S. citizens.

Furthermore, the date of Hawaii statehood would be irrelevant anyway. It was a U.S. territory - as such birth there conveys citizenship.

all children of the US miltary that were born in other countries while their parents were stationed overseas are not US Citizens either.

i really can't believe that they can make an attemp to imply that obama is not american. that's low. man if you go on youtube and check out all the newer political blogs now you can see just how much the sides are going back and forth.

via a newspaper blog. He keeps demanding proof. Readers have submitted photos of documents, he says they're photoshopped. Someone submits a link that will take him to a Hawaii state office where he can get the confirmation, he says the link is a fake. Someone produces clear documentation, he changes the description of what he is requiring. There's no winning with these nutjobs. I finally told him that I wasn't about to hand him anything when he demanded an authentic link to genuine proof, seeing as how he'd already demonstrated that anything coming from me is considered suspect; also told him that it took me all of about six seconds on the internet to find what he was looking for, and suggested that he should try researching someplace other than rightwing websites. He of course responded that I was admitting that no evidence exists. Yes, I've put him on 'ignore.'
