1. The tears of the young brother of Cheney
got to me.

I was in my early twenties when Cheney was murdered. His murder and the beatings of the people trying to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL, made me question the segregationist philosophy I had grown up with in my native state of Alabama.

If there is a heaven, King and Cheney and Goodwin and Schwerner must be smiling. They did not die in vain. We will have a President with black skin.
